Laminar’s Dedicated Couplings are designed to connect pipes with the same outside diameter. They can be customised to fit DIN, ANSI, and JIS specifications for various materials such as Ductile Iron (DI), Steel, uPVC, GRP, Cement, Stainless Steel, and other rigid pipe materials.
The dedicated couplings with double sleeves can prevent end pull-out on HDPE and GRP pipes. Their manufacturing process allows them to produce any size and pressure rating, including non-standard sizes and PN’s.
They are pressure tested to meet pipe standards, and their working pressure is typically two-thirds of the maximum test pressure shown in the dimensions schedules. They are suitable for buried pipelines with adequate thrust blocks or pipelines above ground anchored securely against side thrusts at each joint.
While the dedicated couplings can handle some expansion and contraction, they do not mechanically prevent the separation of pipe ends under end thrust, which must be prevented by other means. For above-ground pipelines, it is necessary to anchor against the end load. Buried pipelines typically require anchoring only at specific changes in direction and at junctions or stop ends.
Dedicated Couplings come with gaskets made of EPDM rubber, which are suitable for water and sewerage applications, chemicals, and dilute acids in the temperature range of -50 °C to +90°C. Other sealing materials can be used for higher temperatures, which are available upon request. Laminar’s Gaskets and Epoxy coatings are certified non-toxic and WRAS-approved for potable water in accordance with BS EN 6920.
