Gas Volume & Energy Corrector

Electronic Gas Volume and Energy Corrector With 4G LTE Cat.1 Modem

Our MacBAT 5 corrector provide PTZ, PT, or T type corrections. The electronic device is powered by an internal battery with the option of external power connection. MacBAT 5 converts gas volume measured by a rotary, turbine, or ultrasonic gas flow meter to base conditions.

The gas compressibility factor is calculated using algorithms: SGERG-88, SGERG-mod-H2, AGA92-DC, AGA8-G1, AGA8-G2, AGA NX-19-mod, or a constant value of the compressibility factor K1.

The MacBAT 5 EVC is an intrinsically safe device that can be installed in Zone 0 explosive hazard areas.

What does a gas volume corrector do?

The gas volume corrector (EVC) measures accurately and convert the volume of gas to base conditions and, in some cases, to calculate the energy content of the gas. Its work is crucial to ensure gas volume measurements are standardized, which is important for billing, regulatory compliance, and technical evaluations.

The gas volume corrector operates by counting the volume at measurement conditions using pulses from either a low or high frequency sensor or directly from the gas meter counter with an encoder. It measures the gas’s pressure and temperature, converting the volume to base conditions and calculating the energy value based on preset gas parameters (EN 12405-1 and EN 12405-2).

In a gas EVC, the relationship between gas volume and pressure is adjusted to correct the gas volume to standard conditions using the principles of gas laws. As pressure increases (with temperature constant), the volume decreases, and as pressure decreases, the volume increases, with the gas EVC making the necessary corrections for accurate measurement and billing.

While room temperature and pressure are close to standard conditions, the gas EVC uses predefined standard reference conditions, such as 0°C or 15°C for temperature and 1 atmosphere for pressure, to correct the gas volume.
