Flowstopping Systems

Flowstopping is a safe, easy-to-use and cost-effective system for repair, maintenance and modification of gas distribution networks whilst preserving continuity of supply. The entire procedure is totally gas-free, carried out through an arrangement of valves. Laminar supplies the complete package, including drilling machines, plug insertion equipment and flowstopping bags.

It can be used in connections to metallic gas mains, such as, welded steel, cast-iron, ductile-Iron (DI) and polyethylene (PE) pipes. It is recommended not to turn off the gas supply; if possible, since the entire pipe system would then need to be extensively re-tested before being turned back on. 

Therefore, using a temporary flow-stopping method with a bypass installed is crucial. This method is called bagging-off (or bag off) isolation process. This method is suitable in low-pressure pipes of up to 4 bars.
